Northern Limestone Coast Regional Assessment Panel

Northern Limestone Coast Regional Assessment Panel

Following the recent launch of the new planning system in rural areas under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (PDI Act), the  Naracoorte Lucindale Council,  Tatiara District Council and Kingston District Council have constituted the Northern Limestone Coast Regional Assessment Panel (RAP).

Operating under the new planning system and the PDI Act, the RAP is responsible for assessing a range of development applications in the areas of the member councils.  The panel will consist of up to five members – one member of the panel will be an Elected Member from one of the member Councils and the other four must be accredited professionals – planning level 2 under PlanSA’s Accredited Professionals Scheme.  One of the accredited professionals will be appointed to the position of presiding member of the RAP.

The Northern Limestone Coast RAP replaces the Council Assessment Panel for each Council and will enable a more consistent approach to planning across the three Council areas, as well as creating opportunities for resource sharing and providing greater efficiency in the assessment process for planning applications.

Expressions of interest are sought from people who have the qualifications and an interest in joining the RAP.

The RAP will meet as needed and agendas and minutes for meetings will be available on each Council’s website.

The initial term of office will be 2 years, panel members will also be eligible for reappointment at the expiration of the term.  A member must continue to be an accredited professional while holding office.

Other conditions of appointment are set out in section 84 of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

Expressions of interest must include Certificate of Accreditation, resume and cover letter.  As the Presiding Member’s role is to chair formal meetings, expressions of interest for this position should outline experience in chairing formal meetings and knowledge of the operation and requirements of the Act.

More information on the Panel is available by contacting Paul McRostie of Naracoorte Lucindale Council  on 8760 1100.

Expressions of interest should be provided by post or email by 5.00pm, 11 September 2020 to Naracoorte Lucindale Council, PO Box 555, Naracoorte SA 5271 or
