Bordertown is famous as the birthplace of Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia.  He was born here in 1929 while his father, Clem, was posted here as the Congregational Minister. Bob was 5 years old when the family moved to Maitland on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, and 10 when they moved to Western Australia.

A bronze bust of Bob Hawke stands in front of the Tatiara District Council Office in Woolshed Street.
Venture into the Tatiara Civic Centre foyer to view the Bob Hawke Gallery, open Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
