Cockatoo Downs Farmstay

Cockatoo Downs Farmstay is a 500 hectare Farm located in the Tatiara District, just one and a half kilometres off the Dukes Highway between Keith and Bordertown. It is less than a 3 hour drive from Adelaide and only a 15 minutes drive to the local town of Keith.

The multi purpose complex offers a range of accommodation, catering and activities for everyone, ranging from single travellers and couples to larger families and groups. The large modern function centre can seat up to 120 people for catered meals or meetings and a variety of events from seminars, school camps, to parties and weddings.

The large gum trees give shelter to our 20 spacious powered camping sites, and the wide open spaces allows you to experience the freedom of nature and plenty of room for non-powered camping.

We have a 4 dorm style bunk house which sleeps up to 59 people. There are 7 bunk beds in each room with 2 adjoining leaders rooms. The bunk house has heating for those cool evenings and ceiling fans for the warmer weather.

Our two cottages are fully furnished and self contained, all you need is your food and personal effects.

“The Stables Cottage” has 3 bedrooms, two rooms consisting of double beds and one with a single bed and trundle. A wood fire in an open living area provides warmth in winter, firewood delivered to your door! In the summer months, an air conditioner or relax on the front or back verandah, outdoor setting and BBQ provided for your own private use.

“The Robinson Cottage” has 4 bedrooms, 2 rooms with a double and a single bed, one room with a double bed and the 4 room consists of 3 bunk beds with a trundle. The front deck is shaded by beautiful gum trees and has a couch and outdoor setting to relax and enjoy the serenity that surrounds you. The kitchen and lounge room are smaller rooms.

Each morning there is a farm tour for guests to come along and feed the animals, we have geese, emus, chooks, kangaroo, sheep, deer, water buffalo and cows oh and of course Camilla the Camel.

The farming land that surrounds is used for different crops including lucerne, barley and canola for seed and hay.

A short walk will take you to our lake. Which is suitable for canoeing, bird watching or just to relax by. Canoes with paddles and life jackets are provided for your use inclusive of accommodation rates.

Several designated camp fires are located around the campsites, all wood provided and delivered daily.

A half basketball court, volleyball net and archery, will provide entertainment for both young and all, balls provided. (Archery equipment requires a refundable deposit)

Allow yourself and the kids the challenge of completing the hay bale maze or just relax and enjoy the laughter from our playground, hours of fun for the kids and in view of most camp sites.

We are pet friendly but dogs need to be on a leash. We provide wheel chair access facilities, including self contained cottages, camp kitchen, and laundry.
